This is a trip...


Man this is a trip...I am trying to post a new onto my blog and had a heck of a time...currently I am on the other half of the world and the IP address makes everything from google to my blog log in page comes up in Chinese...so I have to guess which button to click on to get here...but here I am...yay..Then on the other odd days...the print is all in Arabic...what's next...At least they have CocaCola here...at least I think that is what it is...lol...here is to enjoying "the Real thing"

Here is the hat o day for today... My Auburn University hat, one of many ... but I like the way this one fits. I like my hats to have a little character and I can't stand a straight brim...so I usually get mine broke in pretty well. This was on a beautiful day at Kitty Hawk...I know the hat doesn't really look like an Auburn hat but that is what it says.

Hat o Day 2


Today...I dig out an old hat from American Roller http://www.americanroller.com/ one of our rubber roll vendors from my days in the corrugated and paper packaging industry. I miss some of the aspects of my job then but not the work hours...LOL ...this hat has seen a little bit of use. I collect hats, but it is very rare that I don't actually wear them. Very very few of my hats are mint. I like to wear them...so until tomorrow...have a happy hat day...

Keeping busy...




This particular tool has been keeping me pretty busy lately...pretty good exercise too...I know an auger would be a whole lot quicker, but I like the personal touch you get by using old fashioned post hole diggers. Also an advantage of using this is that should you encounter something such as a pipe or such... you have a chance to avoid damaging it versus drilling through with an auger...oops...It could be disaster. Always find out if you have anything under your yard or garden before digging. Many communities now have much of their infrastructure such as cables and gas lines, water lines, sewer, etc...under ground and many times they don't run in what you might think is a common sense manner. I have yet to figure out their madness but I am sure there is a method to it. Anyhoo...my dogs will soon have a big playpen to call theirs...and it should keep them from visiting my neighbors inadvertently. :)

The GREED is back...


Apparently the GREED is back...America has problems we all agree, but when the price of gas went down to a reasonable level we could go on with our lives with a sense that perhaps there might just be an end to this tunnel. We have all gotten used to the idea that a "Stacation" might ot be all that bed, after all spending time getting to know what kind of vacation activities your local area has might prove to not be so bad after all. I figured that we would be back over $2.50 for a gallon of regular soon, but I figured it might not be until the Fourth of July weekend... but NOOOOOO it is back...early. I realize that for much of the nation there still might be some cheap gas available but for some reason we are in that little yellow spot in the SouthEast that has decided that fuel prices need to come up. I don't know that I will ever understand it. Man if we bought the rest of our daily supplies the same way we buy gas...who knows what the price of a gallon of milk might be or a loaf of bread. ( I mean...they could always say that they predict the price of wheat fertilizer is expected to triple in the next six months so they need to get their money now... cut, cut,cut,snip.snip


Well, today...rather yesterday was the first real good day we have had in a while and my grass decided to grow two feet. sooo, I guess I had to do something about it...get the mower out and mow, mow , mow. Looks a lot better now, although I can see I still need to seed some bare patches. My little grove out front needs a bit more of the underbush mulched out but I will get to that when I get more gas. ( ran out yesterday) Today, though, I take a break. Listen, I think I hear the Huddle House calling my name.... Tom .....Tom ... :)

Wow, I guess since the new Will Farrell version of the "Land of the Lost" is coming out, there is going to be mania...The SCI FI channel just had their all day marathon of old episodes of the show. My daughter filled up my DVR with em. Still it was fun. I remember watching them on Saturday mornings. Now you look at the old episodes and go ...how hokey is that. Still all in all it was a money maker for the network and it was low budget. The only thing missing was cameo appearances by Kukla Fran and Ollie. Have fun with this one. Today she would have been 71 years young... I miss her. I was just thinking how, if she were alive today she would have a ton of friends emailing from Germany and she would probably have learned to use Facebook too. Today is 5 - 7 another way we might say it is Heinz 57 such as I don't know how many different kinds of dog is in there... I guess that comes from the sauce but I know it is used more often when referring to breeds of dog..."What kind is it?" " I don't know , probably a heinz 57" One of my best dogs was a "57" She was named Nipper after the RCA dog who heard his master's voice. I chose it for her brown ear. Well she has passed over the rainbow bridge to a happier place but I was thinking of her today. This is one of my favorite pic's of her. Hope you like it.

Scrubs is Scrubbed


Well today the 6th of May 2009 is the finale episode for the sitcom Scrubs. I have watched a few shows but my daughters and wife think it is hilarious. I would rather watch ER for my medical show or St. Elsewhere for the comic relief in medical shows but I think House has its moments too. So farewell to Scrubs ... I don't believe any of the lead actors has signed on for any continued episodes...so if by any quirk the networks decide to try and renew...well I guess they will have to negotiate or we will see so,e new folks in scrubs trying to make you laugh. On another line...I do like to wear scrubs...they are quite comfortable. 2 May -- Happy 76 to Nessie


On a positve note...76 years ago today, the first sightings of the Loch Ness monster were made. Pictures and theories abound and I am not about to try and debunk this big mystery. I think if they want to have a monster living in their lake over in Scotland, then by all means. After all it is a great tourist draw. Personally I have never been to Scotland, perhaps oneday I might have the chance. I think I should like to see the Scottish highlands and Lochs and even "old" Nessie...she ought to be getting pretty gray by now, so I don't know if she'll make it to the time I eventually make it over there. Seems we have a lot of distressing news, such as the newest flu whether you call it swine flu or H1N1 or R2D2. It seems to be distressing a lot of folks. Seems though they have yet to actually find a pig that has it. The economy as well, especially if you work for Chrysler. I have had several Dodges and liked them, I would hate to see the company go away, but I am not sure how a DodgeFiat will look. I hope this whole month isn't going to be full of distressing stuff...

Perez Who????? Apples and Oranges...


Since when is Perez Hilton a celebrity? I thought all he was good for was trying to get the "dirt" on the hollywood crowd. Ooooh, he was upset by Miss California telling her honest opinion, just because it was in front of all of America, he thought he would step all over it and have a hissy. My belief system gives me the same value that "marriage" is a blessed union between a man and a woman. I know that anyone can call something else whatever they wanf but if I have an apple and you want to call your orange an apple too I really don't think they are the same thing. Gay people have been able to get married for years. I mean if a gay man wants to marry a woman...hey what's holding him back...now if you want to call two guys living together a marriage , well that is where you are trying to call an orange an "Apple" ... two plusses don't make it. I believe if they want some form of state sanctioned arrangement then that is fine, just don't call it "marriage" ... That is just the way I see it. It isn't taking any "Rights" away, that is not what I am about, just let them find their own arrangement, but it isn't marriage.

I was thinking the other day, somethings are best with "baby slobber" I mean, think about all the good times with your children, ( when they were real small ) and it didn't take any time at all then poof they are grown or growing up and wanting to be their own person. So, appreciate the times when they are little and give you their version of love..."baby slobber" I know, I know...it sounds gross, but you will learn to miss it. This is my first baby ...growing up too fast... I know I miss her little days but I have learned to appreciate her grown days too. I hope and pray I have raised her properly, I am proud of her and the choices she makes. This is for you ...my little "Homer" ( another story for another day) I am proud of you ...keep making the right choices and know I will always love you,

Teaparty Mania


Gotta love the spirit...I support em too... Today is the official Tax Day for this year and it is also the day that many across America are expressing their frustration with the current administrations tax policies. Spending all my hard earned money for me. Well I think if you really want to induce me to spend more and help the economy you should allow mw to keep more of my money in the first place. By the way, why do we need all those extra people in the Government for anyway. How does spending my tax dollars on someones else to have an abortion ( killing a very small person ) help the economy? : or giving some of my money to some artist for some display ( which he/she might have done anyway for the appreciation of the public ) that will only be shown for a short while benefit my community? I can see spending money for the safety and wellbeing ( fire services, security, some infrastructure ( most of which should be funded locally ) schools, and that sort of thing but don't make me pay for the extra things that perhaps someone in California might want like nationalized healthcare. I believe in States rights' and as such I believe that the Federal government shouldn't interfere in such matters that are not specifically outlined in the Constitution.

Billions and Billions, and I don't mean stars


Just like Carl Sagan used to say, "Billions and billions..." If you are just joining, I have been doing a progressive series on how many days will it take to get to the grand amount our Prez and congress are going to be billing our kids in the future. Today is the day I picked to give you another zero, added to yesterdays... so now our figure is $ 1 0 0 , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0 . 0 0 , I guess that would one hundred Billion . It is nowhere near our deficit yet but it is over what tht Prez recently requested. Another 100,000,000.00 that is history


I am sure, in my mind at least, that one hundred million used to be a really big number. After all if it were to take me more than 48 years just to make my first million then heavens! It will take 480 years to make this amount...no I am sorry , lets make that 4800 years. So Methusalem wouldn't have even made a dent either. Nowadays I guess it is just another drop in the bucket, and since everyone is doing away with their money and getting some other form of exchange that would make this bill either worthless or nearly so. ( Except for some collector) Once, though I guess this could have really done some good for a bunch of people. It is worth thinking about.

Is There A Roman Numeral for this?


1 Million Dollars...Is there a short numeral for this? We tend to say 1 Mil or some other little phrase that makes this seem small but it is actually pretty huge. $1 , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0 . 0 0 If I were making minimum wage ( Covered nonexempt workers are entitled to a minimum wage of not less than $6.55 per hour effective July 24, 2008 ) How long would it take me to make my first Million dollars...not to actually have a million but to have earned it ( remember you have to live on something at the same time...) well calculated on an average of 2080 hours per year ( 40 hours times 52 weeks ) making $13,624 annually ...it would take that person 73.4 years just to say they made a million in their lifetime. That is also why it peaves me when these young talented athletes with bad attitudes make millions and also get bonuses then blow their money without anythought for their fellow man or community. They don't think about the people that have to WORK for a living. This is an extreme I know, but there are many Americans that are on the low end of the wage scale. If you were to move the wage up to around ten dollars hourly, it would still take a bit over 48 years to earn. More do-able yet still how much of that are they able to invest or save? I am sure for about 98% it ain't no million. So the next time congress throws these numbers around so easily, remember it is still a lot of money. Tomorrow...we get the next zero...........ooohh
