To be really unconventional

Yeah, riding those old bikes was fun. My old Honda CB-100, Gene's 175, my brother later had a Suzuki 125 or was an 85...I don't remember. I will have to ask... Later my dad bought a 1972 BMW 75R... what a thumper...very deceiving. Fast whooo hoo.. Then I bought a Honda CM-400C in a beautiful Metallic Burgundy...and Gene bought a red CM-400T. Good times...

I miss those days with the wind in my face...here is what I would like to have now. Yeah, if anyone would like to buy me one??? Sure would be nice.

Have a wonderful day.

Unconventional

About the same time as I was getting my first car, my best friend Gene had an old Honda that we used to ride around his yard. It didn't look as fine as this one, but it was the same color and looked about the right year. His seat was ripped up pretty good and it had been laid down a few times but hey...it was still fun......and his sister was cute too.

The runnning mate...

I guess since today seems to be the day to announce running mates...although it ws not my car, I do remember driving it a lot, and it is also in the previous post. You might say it was my cars running mate. ( If the one was unable to fulfil its obligations then well...you know) I really liked the little Pinto. Lots of good time there...the back seat folded down too... the little 1600cc four with four speed was not as peppy as say a Vega but I bet we got better mpg. 30's on the road were not uncommon. Pretty good for a 1971 car when miles per gallon wasn't really a thought. Also note the "Graduate"...that's me, and now 31 years later I am graduating again. Here's to Pinto's, old Chevy's, and Graduating.

Hey, I found it. Number One

Here it is. Number One...Uno...My first car. The Blue Goose. 1962 Chevrolet Impala in Silver Blue Metallic with white top. 235 CI straight-six, two speed powerglide tranny, "Tom Sharp" retreads, Gold "Thunderbird" bucket seats, eighttrack player and Audiovox amp with two, check it out TWO speakers. Man, it was boomin... Oh, lest I forget...I had a cool chrome tip on the tailpipe, and when I flipped the breather it sounded really cool.

Ok, back to four wheels.

Now that we have covered the pre-driver's license days...what did you first learn to drive in? Did it have 3 speed or 4 speed or automatic? I learned to use the "3-on-the-tree" column shift on our 1962 Valiant. I dove that car back and forth on our diveway until dad got home then we could take it out on the street. Did you know that early Plymouth's didn't have synchronized first gears. You had to be at a complete stop to put in the first. I remember a lot of grinding. Kind of wish I had a little Valiant about now. ( It had a little 170CI slant six) Easy as heck to work on and lots of room under the hood. Later Dad bought another Valiant much newer with a 225 slant six and automatic. It was ok, but didn't have the personality out first one had. Here's to everyones first driving experiences. :)

Once more back in the day...

My brother had a red huffy but mine was grander! I had a PURPLE Murray. It had "Wildcat" on the chainguard, and a beautiful sparkling Purple banana seat. I remember riding that in a bike-a-thon. Not too smart. A spyder bike is not a great road distance bike, but I peddled my heart out for the March of Dimes. You know, I don't remember when I got rid of it. I think I painted it later or something, but I remember I upgraded when my legs got longer. Boy I liked that color though.

Even further back in time...

I haven't found a real picture of our exact machine but my first experiences on motorized wheels were on something very near this one. 2 1/2 hp Briggs powered, centrifugal clutch, man that was state of the art. It was orange like this one but had a chrome front fender. Good times...yeah! I wish I could have found another one like it while my kids were still small enough to ride one...but they want four-wheelers...that is another story.

Steppin back in time..

Mom, on my earliest street machine. It was a cool ride.

I guess I should really go back to my first wheels, but since I will have to search a bit more to find my Murray Wildcat bike with banana seat... I will progress to the first vehicle I had to be licensed to drive...thus the Honda CB-100...tah-da... Made for the street, it held up surprisingly well on the trails and even jumping...until that last curb in the rain...It was pretty good on gas, actually great on gas, and always reliable. I never had to deliver my newspapers in the morning on my bike due to a breakdown. ( Just for heavy rain) Here is to happy memories, and longing for another vehicle that got nearly 70 miles to the gallon.

Number 3, does is still live?

I remember my third car. I loved it .. I had never ever seen another Granada with a factory stick. ( 3speed with an overdrive fourth.) I got over 30mpg on the road with the 250CI six.

This looks as if it could actually be my old car...hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Car number two...

My second car, although it was never as good looking as this one... I bought for $175.00 at a repo auction. It had a 360CI engine and even with retreads it could haul a## . It sounded really cool with Thrush Hush Glass packs. It had a few other problems...it came from Michigan... my mechanic hated to see me coming with this one. It took him a couple of hours to cut the old shocks off for all of the rust. But part of me wishes I still had this land yacht... Yeah... lots of good memories there.....

What was Your 1st car?

I was just thinking the other day...how many cars have I owned in my life? Not as many as my brother that is for sure. Let's just see...my first car cost me $200 and I later sold it for $200... pretty good huh... It wasn't real fancy but I sure wish I had it again...

Here it is...the "Blue Goose"...Actually this one isn't my old car but if mine had looked this good I really wish I still had it. I guess I will have to go through the old box of pictures...
