I believe it was a Dinky

After researching I believe my brothers ambulance was not in fact a Corgi but was a Dinky. I think we lost the stretcher and patient rather quickly as well as the back door coming off but it was still fun to play with. The front wheels turned too.stripe. I am sure there were different versions but this looks to be about approximate. After I post this I am sure he will let me know yay or nay... and I have included a photo of what my little black and white was...although I remember mine having more black...Man, that was a long time ago...

Other little wheels in the 60's

I was thinking about my little cars the other day. I was wondering if I had kept them all in mint condition what they would be worth today? I had "Matchbox" cars that had actually come in the "Matchbox" and I remember when Hotwheels first came out. I also had the little tootsietoy cars and trucks but the ones I liked best were the ones that were a little larger than the rest. These were the ones made by Corgi. I had the James Bond Astin Martin with the ejection seat, guns and the pop up rear window protection shield. I believe I probably lost James bond but I remember the car for a long time. I also had a volkswagon and a 1961 black and white Buick ..wait or was it an Olds. hmmm. I think my brother had an ambulance but I don't remember what kind of car it was. I will have to Google and see if anything comes to mind.

The origin..origins...originally...

I wanted to show the first car I ever rode in but unfortunately I am not sure what it looks like. However I have a sneaking suspision that a 1958 Mercury has something to do with it... I will have to ask my dad what color it was. hmmm...

Pre "Wildcat" days

Here are a couple of shots of my earliest wheels. I call these my pre "Wildcat" days. I don't know if you can even find any of these nowadays. Mike, you should get a hoot out of these. Enjoy. These are from times we should always treasure.

I found the Wildcat

Hey, digging through old photo's I found it...my ol' "Wildcat" the purple wonder. Many mile have been logged on these two wheels. Many adventures..."Rat Patrol", "Breaking Away," and other imaginary adventures. My kids wouldn't have been able to cope. I believe the only times we were allowed to play inside were if we were sick or if it was raining. So...the rest of the time..."Go Play Outside!!!" It was a good thing we lived near cotton fields there was always a place to ride and it wasn't always on the street. We had some pretty cool ditches to jump and the school was only a short distance away and it had a lot of land on which to play. We also had made a ballpark behind the neighbors house where we played baseball. Good memories.

My Other Impala...

Well it really was a Caprice but it was almost the same thing... Green with a 350ci V-8 2bbl auto. Pretty cool ride. It would be a hot seller today, although somebody would probably put 20's on it. I liked it just as it was. Sweet and green...and smooth. Gave it up just before I went in the Army.

Thanks to God

We should all be thankful that Texas has survived through Ike. Many didn't leave that should have, but God has seen them through. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5jG1m4XT341oCKXPMIZlKffdhP9vwD937081G1

In Memoriam 911

Today, I pause to remember those lost through no fault of their own during the attacks during September 11, 2001. I remember where I was that day. Driving a forklift in a warehouse, but it could have been just as easy to have been in an office in a building without a care that enemies of our country and way of life were plotting such a heinous event. Pray for the families of those lost and that we win this war. God Bless America. Check out this touching tribute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKokgnBGfsk

Gas sticker shocker

Boy, you aren't going to believe what I saw the other night on my way home from work at 3 in the morning. ... $8.57 per gallon at the Murphy's gas station at Walmart. I nearly ran off the road. The cops couldn't believe it. They pulled in to look at the sign too. As soon as I can figure out how to get the picture off of my phone and into my computer I will post it. Hey it could happen, I mean I work inside for 10 to 12 hours at a time and perhaps some National catastrophe had happened, and put our fuel on critical levels. I was happy to see that it was jsut someone screwing around with the sign at Walmart. Boy, what a relief, I hope I never actually see those numbers on a gas station sign again. At least not any time soon. I think I will fill up tomorrow...I think I saw $3.61...what a deal. Phew, i am glad it isn't $8.57.

Number Two in its usual setting

While I really liked this land yacht, I will admit that being the fourth owner and it being from Michigan...it did spend an unusually lot of time in this position. I really like the 360CI plenty of ooomph. Blew my friends Chevy away lickety split. ... Also blew a retread off... funny thing riding down the highway on a steel belt...it sounds kind of funny. Oh the black smoke from where the tire threw the tread was scary as well as the backend of the car coming up off the ground. I won't say what the speedo said, but it was near the end... The interior of this ride was immaculate, oh except for the parole papers, I found, panties, diapers, $2.73 in change and one piece of used chewing gum and a condom wrapper.( this is all the stuff I found when I bought it and was cleaning it out. ) The car cost me $175.00 and then I had to spend quite a bit more... tires, oil, engine mounts, shocks, plugs, pooints, condensor, cap, wires, mufflers, and oh yeah...freeze plugs, and a starter.

The one that got away...

Just before I started driving we had this little gem. I was all slated and psyched up to learn to drive a Mustang. ( Yes, I know it is a Mustang II ..supposedly the pretend mustangs...) But I really like that little car. The only thing I didn't like was a "Mustang" with only four cylinders. But man was this a pretty car. It was a Ghia in brilliant white and vinyl half top. Top of the line...my dad did good. We didn't have too long...it was damaged in a tornado in April 1974, and it was never the same. These little gems are becoming quite rare, I can't even remember the last time I saw one. Hmmm...

Hey, have a wonderful day. :)
